Image Compositing

Image compositing is putting two pictures that goes well together into one image. It is done through collaging and compositing through photoshop. Rule of third is a rule known to all photographers. It is known as a principle to break down images into both horizontal and vertical so that you can have 9 parts. After seeing nine squares you could imagine four lines crossing each other and in that case it is the most important part of the rule of thirds. Your main object has to hit in the intersection of one of the four lines. An example of how to break the rule of third is a photo with the main object directly in the center of the photo and not in the middle of the four intersections. This rule may be okay to be broken sometimes but most times it's not suppose to be. I don't believe in editing all photos because sometimes photos will come out nicer then expected and will not need to be edited.
My strongest message will come from my first and main composite image, which is a person sitting on a guitar. The photo will show a others how music is relaxing and soothing, I believe a lot of people would agree to this. In my composite image I will use micro position, low angle, and rule of third subject. When the audience view my photo I anticipate their eyes to go first to my friend (Claire) sitting on the guitar. Then second, their eyes will be to the guitar.

Modern Art Movement

For our modern art movement presentation we chose impressionism art movement with my partner MakenaThe cultural movement that brought Impressionism was a change in methodology. Impressionism changed how many artists painted since it was against tradition. It was the beginning of art that was based on real life and focused more on colors and tones. Other artist donated to culture and society by breaking the norm and showing opinions on things such as change and politics. I am really into this art movement because of how much it changed how people see art.

Vincent Van Gogh 'Starry Night' 1889
The art piece above is called the Starry Night created in 1889 by Vincent Van Gogh. The artist was hoping to show others the beauty of nature and love, it shows multiple emotions waving in one painting. Every person has their own perceptions, artist can show many kinds of perceptions, but not all artist can persuade a persons thought. Many people see the world differently and that involves other objects especially art, but art can only give every person one thing and thats how it feels or shows. If the art shows light painting or bright colors it shows calm and soothing but if its dark and the paint brush is rough it shows how ruthless and mean it is. throughout the years that has passed, art has improved not only in paper but also in technology. Art has improved through technology and people have gained more skills because in art there are no rules so that doesn't change the fact that there are no rules dong art on the computer, phone, ipad, etc.. In art, people gain knowledge all the time because art involves experimenting and making new images.

Visual Statement

Smile With Confidence from Kapaa Warriors MEDIA on Vimeo.

The topic I chose is popularity; it is based on the fact that for many students entering high school, popularity is a very important issue in their lives. I feel that it is important to send the message that popularity is not everything, and is not worth changing who you are for. As an example, my partner Anijah once felt this way, but as she grew up, realized that surface popularity was not more important than who she was, and what she believed in. Our goal is to show others that changing for other people's amusement, or just to fit in, is not healthy for you, and learning to be comfortable with yourself, and finding people who accept you for that, is a better way to live.

As we began to work on our visual statement project we learned a new tip and trick that has helped us a lot. For one example of of the tips and tricks we learned was making a match cut, which is when you match a movement or an object in different sceneries. We used this trick for two of our scenes which involves Anijah being sad and putting her hands on her face and that transitions to her in another class but in the same position she left off but this time she did the peek-a-boo and she was happy. Using FCPX libraries, events, and projects properly is important because keeping everything of yours as in audio, video, and pictures organized and not lost. Audio levels in different clips can vary drastically because of the distance or length of the camera or phone from the object being filmed. To balance what your audience will hear you would have to adjust the volume or or decibels of the clips. The higher quality we have in our video is our display because of clarity and the visuals that shows. the audience can infer on what's going on in the video without the audio.

Workplace Safety

My topic was about MSDS (material safety data sheet). My teams goal is to show people how important it is to follow MSDS due to the danger in our work environment. My teammates are Makaiao and Kyle, both are smart and friendly people. Each contributed by working hard and trying our best to come up with good ideas for the team. We worked as a team and tried to finish the video on time. We did turn in the video on the expected date but it was incomplete. Recognition for giving their best effort would go to Makaiao, he suggested many ideas for the video and script, and he also found us a place to film our video with the correct tools we needed.

My biggest takeaway from this project would be teamwork, everyone has a role to play and no one is left out. Throughout this project I have learned a lot about workplace safety and MSDS, it is really important for us to follow through the rules of MSDS to keep ourselves and our environment safe. For my teams critique our highest scoring is relevance of visual and our lowest scoring is clarity of audio; our video was good but the downfall of it is our audio. What I would have done differently to increase the production value would be to know where the perfect place to shoot a video so there won't be any wind or other unnecessary noises in the background.

Arts & Design

The first elements I used in my digital Still Life painting is line, and shape. How I used the elements was by using shape to trace my main object and line for my shading. It's important to maintain the size of your brush to the size of your image. For one example my image, a 15 pixel brush did not match my image because it was a little too big but when I switched to a 11 pixel it matched my image. For this digital painting I have mostly enjoyed tracing and adding shade to my image yet shading was still a little difficult because I couldn't tell where and how to shade.

My landscape was taken as my family and I were driving through the Wailua bridge. The similarities of my still image and landscape are both pencil drawn but they differ because for my still image I traced and shaded the object myself. But for my landscape, I have used the digital painting process. There is no way I can trace and shade my landscape and make it perfect. The process through the digital painting was fun! I did the basic beginning tutorial but then I decided to use the advanced filter technique instead. In my landscape image we can see that there is shape, line, texture and value. My image turned out okay and I am satisfied with it.

My portrait was taken in one of my relatives house, the people in it is my aunty and her only son. I chose this picture because it has her in it. She is one of the closest person in my life, she means a lot to me. For my image I have a digital pencil drawing on my right and on my left is my line drawing. There is texture, line, shape, and value in my image that I have used.

I don't completely agree with my score because I have a novice on my still which I know I'm not suppose to have. Also I have 12 expert on my still which I don't think I deserve because I didn't really do much on details. But the rest I would agree to, I am very happy with my score.

Audio Production

Intonation and inflection, they are actually very important when it comes to speech. Without intonation and inflection people would be falling asleep every time a speaker comes to the radio or people wouldn't be watching the news because the reporters are boring. Because of intonation and inflection people aren't falling asleep when a person is talking on the radio or aren't getting bored of the reporter because they are entertained, intonation and inflection catches peoples attention. The role that I am playing in my team is the vocal, I speak and report the news. For my role I just have to speak and say what needs to be said, but if I mess up my team would have to start all over again.

My team and I did okay, we didn't really use that much intonation and inflection. We faced some difficulties and complications but we tried our best. We had some difficulties using intonation and inflection during our speaking. If I would do this project all over again with the same people what I would do better would be practice, be prepared and be ready. To improve we would put a lot of effort and focus on finishing on time and not slacking.

Proprietary Information

Copyright infringement, a work that is secured by the law of copyright unaccompanied by a permission. The legal penalties for this illegal act would be a fine of $250,000 and five years of prison. If caught twice or more you would pay an addition of a fine of $250,000 and ten years of prison. To get a permission, first you have to verify if permission is needed. Second you have to recognize the owner and the rights that is needed. Plan ahead for your permission and arrange a payment if needed. Last would be to get your permission agreement in writing. Fair use, its a use of copying copyright work done for a limited purpose.

Confidentiality is something that you must keep private, three examples of it is social security number, bank account number, and medical information. Social media changed so much for the better but not really. Some social media apps ask for your e-mail account, birthdate, personal phone number, and location. Censorship, words, images, or ideas that may be offensive to others. How this relates to the 1st and 5th amendment is that they all includes our rights as individual. The 1st amendment is freedom of speech, you would want to say what you want to say and you have full rights to do so. But there is a limit actually, the 5th amendment. The 5th amendment involves peoples rights of privacy, nobody wants someone to go through their private business. You can say whatever you want but it has to not pass the 5th amendment.
